Overall cancer death rates have declined steadily over the past 20 years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the annual rate of decline has recently slowed. Incidence rates remained stable among males and rose slightly among females, with a temporary dip in 2020 and a rebound to prepandemic levels by 2021.
