Cribiform and intraductal carcinoma in prostate cancer-implications for risk stratification and therapeutic decision making (REVIEW)

Picked by The OncoAlert NetworkNature Reviews Urology

Take-home: Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC) and invasive cribriform carcinoma are aggressive histological patterns associated with adverse pathology, metastasis, and prostate cancer mortality. Frequently underdetected on biopsy, they exhibit PTEN loss, genomic instability, DNA-repair alterations, and immunologically cold tumour microenvironments. Although these features suggest potential biomarker-directed therapies, evidence remains insufficient. Standardized reporting, improved detection, and prospective studies are essential to guide risk stratification and treatment decisions. #ProstateCancer
